SEC Issues Proposed Exemption

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) issued a proposed exemption that would authorize securitized tenant-in-common (TIC) investment property sponsors participating in TIC investment property transactions to compensate licensed real estate professionals under certain circumstances.

1031 Exchange Audits Expected to Increase

The U.S. Treasury Inspector General issued a report in September recommending that the IRS increase its supervision of 1031 exchanges as well as other items.
